Cooking with Facebook?

Here's a new little discovery I made. If you become a "fan" of celebrity chefs on Facebook, their updates will appear in your Facebook homepage stream. At first, it's a little disconcerting to see Mario Batali's face amongst those of Uncle Joe, your best friend, and that woman from the party, but you adapt. Especially because it's very cool to get handy cooking tips, short cooking videos, and recipes as part of your everyday routine (ahem, for those of us who attend to such frivolities as Facebook on a daily basis).

Here's a couple to get you started:
Mark Bittman
Mario Batali
Rick Bayless

Amongst other things, I recently watched Mark Bittman's demystification of polenta. Says Bittman, "It's a very straightfoward thing. It's cornmeal mush."

Although I don't entirely concur with his methods, I think it is true that with a nonstick pan, you don't need to stir it constantly. You can stir it every 5 minutes or so. You can see the video yourself either from the Facebook page or from his NY Times blog:
