Herbed Limeade

Ladies, when I was pregnant I craved citrus like it was my job. Apparently Mr Tumnus had an in-utero horror of scurvy. I drank lemonade at every opportunity (real lemonade, not "lemonade drink"). Then I discovered I could make it with LIMES! Happy day. I made a pitcher of this twice in my 2nd trimester, during the depths of summer, and spun it out as long as possible. This version was my favorite. It's totally unusual, totally refreshing. I highly recommend you either make it at the first sign of warm weather, or crank the heat in your houses and pretend.

Boil for 2 minutes:
8 cups of water
1 1/2- 2 cups sugar (I liked 1 3/4 cups)
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary

Refrigerate until cold. Remove rosemary twigs and leaves. Then stir in 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (or the same amount of lemon juice).

Variations: I made it once with a 6 inch piece of fresh ginger, thinly sliced. It was delish. You could also make it with 2-3 sprigs of fresh mint!

Note: if you are not pregnant or don't give a fig for your health, you could add a shot of gin or vodka or bourbon. Wow.
