I came across Amanda's legendary Halloween Brunch from a few years ago. Hmm! That was fun and comforting.

Pumpkin Pie for Halloween
28 Oct 2011 00:10
What better way to celebrate Halloween than baking a pumpkin pie? With the snow gently falling outside, the warmth of the oven and the aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger are more needed than ever. (This is not a joke.)

Cookbook: Italian Grill
14 Jul 2011 11:39
Now that the summer is in full bloom, can I recommend this cookbook? I absolutely adore it for its delicious, simple, healthy recipes. As usual, Mario focuses on freshness and pizzaz (generally achieved by vinegar and hot pepper.) Mario includes ample vegetable grilling dishes, as well as fish, poultry, and meat. There's even grilled pizza!

Came across this article on NPR about using fresh summer veggies and herbs in light sauces. It comes with four recipes: yum!

Fresh Ricotta
23 May 2011 13:37
I had a life-changing experience this weekend. I made fresh ricotta. It's life changing because it's so easy and so delicious, which is a powerful combination.

Man Catcher Brownies
20 Mar 2011 23:54
Ladies, I was recently treated to some seriously problematic brownies. I like brownies ok, and if you are going to use a box, Ghirardelli's dark chocolate mix has never given me cause to regret. But these things were…vile indeed. They were little beasts, the bete noire of brownies.

More Gimbot

I passed by one of the new Pizzeria Regina chain booths that are springing up in every food court, and I was struck when I noticed a pizza called the "Giambotta."

Vietnamese Cooking Blog
11 Dec 2010 19:28
I came across this attractive Vietnamese and Asian cooking blog today I thought to share with you all. It has a nice index with recipes sorted by date and by category, as well as short reviews of other cooking blogs. Each recipe has lovely photos. The cook/writer, Andrea Nguyen, has written a bunch of cookbooks and is a contributing editor to Saveur magazine.

Indian Recipe Book Suggestions
08 Nov 2010 22:58
Hello all. I believe it is time for me to invest in a good Indian recipe book, but I'm not sure where to turn. The book does not have to be vegetarian. I already have Madhur Jaffrey's World Vegetarian (although not an Indian recipe book), so I'd be happy to try someone else.

Lists
24 Apr 2010 20:31
I've been inspired by Amazon's Listmania and other book networking lists that allow users to string together their favorite books around a certain theme. Why not have that for Ladies Recipes? I've created a Lists page for that purpose.

A Weekend of Decadence
01 Apr 2010 00:15
Claire came to town, and we had ourselves a delightful reunion of the ladies. We threw ourselves into all kinds of innocent but wretchedly wasteful activities: ladies night, lunching, and gallivanting about shopping centers. Here's the menu for Ladies Night (all of the old standards were trotted out):

Engagement Dinner
28 Mar 2010 12:42
We celebrated K's engagement last night by taking her out in style to a cozy but hip restaurant none of us had been to before, but which came highly recommended. After enjoying caipirinhas at the bar, we were settled in to a festive corner table with candles and flowers.

Indian Night
13 Mar 2010 14:18
Amanda very graciously invited some of the ladies over for the second installment of Indian Night. If possible, this iteration was even better than the last. We were greeted by a lovely table spread when we arrived, complete with flowers, candles, and pretty table linens. Not to mention the sumptuous feast quietly simmering on the stove! Thanks to Kajsa, we go to enjoy pomegranate martinis before the meal.

Changing Your Screenname
11 Mar 2010 22:29
Have you ever wanted to change your Wikidot screenname, either for reasons of privacy or because you can no longer remember what prompted you to pick such a silly name? You can! To do this, go to My Account > Account Summary > My Profile > Change My Screenname. You can change it up to 2 times. My understanding is that the change will be applied to all your previous posts. Just an FYI.

More Julienne
06 Mar 2010 03:35
Today while I was poking around on the Internet, I watched a video from Korean cook Maangchi on how to make bibimbap. I was awestruck when I saw her julienne the carrots for the dish.

How I Loathe Julienne
01 Mar 2010 18:22
A recipe I was making today called for julienned carrots. I recalled that I had an ancient mandolin tucked away somewhere that might do the job, so I gamely prepped and peeled 6 carrots. I discovered, with some horror, that my particular mandolin did not in fact have a julienne blade. I attempted to julienne one carrot by hand, but decided I had not the will to proceed. I was forced to the food processor, whose instruction manual cruelly persuaded:
